Donations to support the MRC Tas Food Box Program (for Cultural Communities)

MRC Tas is appealing for donations to increase its capacity to provide weekly staple food boxes to temporary visa holders and other migrants who are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19.

Delivery of boxes around Hobart and surrounding suburbs is being supported by the Glenorchy District Football Club and its community partners. The packing of boxes is supported by MRC Tas volunteers.

This project has received some great support from the community already, and it has been wonderful to see so many organisations collaborating on this. However, more donations are needed to meet demand.

The food boxes contain healthy, nutritious, and where possible, culturally appropriate food, intended for cooking in a home kitchen.

A donation of $50 will provide a food box, the average contents of which will last for approximately 10 days.

Donations will assist in the purchase of ingredients and packing of boxes. Donations for the Food Box program can be made via the embedded form or by visiting:

The MRC Tas Food Box Program was initiated with support from the Jetty Foundation and the Rotary Club of North Hobart.

Donate and you will make a difference

Our mission is to support and encourage culturally diverse community members to reach their potential.  Many of our clients face challenges as they settle into a new community and our capacity to provide assistance where it’s needed most is greatly enriched by the generous financial support of others. Funds from donors are used to provide resources, activities, and opportunities which we would otherwise be unable to provide.

We welcome donations to support our current work and to provide additional services. As a registered charity all donations $2 and over are tax deductible.
