Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania welcomes Premier Jeremy Rockliff’s call to the Commonwealth Government to urgently address the delays in processing permanent and provisional visas, published on 17 February 2023.
As Premier Rockliff stated, these delays impact the well-being of individuals who want to work and contribute to the Tasmanian community.
The long delays in processing permanent visas for migrants who have been living and working in Tasmania can result in huge psychological stress.
MRC Tas would also welcome more resourcing from the Commonwealth Government to hasten the processing of other visa types, including humanitarian and family reunion visas.
