Happy Refugee Week from all of us at MRC Tas! Refugee Week provides an opportunity to highlight aspects of the refugee experience and come together to celebrate the contributions that people from refugee backgrounds make to the Tasmanian community.
Our Food Workers Abebea and Huweida are both from a refugee background, hailing from Eritrea and Syria. For these women, food is an important and enduring connection to their homeland. They love sharing their cooking with the wider Tasmanian community. Abebea and Huweida have made an incredible contribution to our Social Enterprise and have enriched Hobart’s food scene. To celebrate Refugee Week, Abebea and Huweida are making delicious Sweet and Mezza boxes, filled with love and tasty treats! Available to order to pick up this Thursday and Friday between 11am and 3pm. Each box feeds 5 – 6 people. Orders must be placed one day in advance.
