Multicultural Youth

Multicultural Youth Tasmania (MYT) is a program of Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania (MRC Tas). MYT provides targeted services and projects to support young people aged up to 25 years from multicultural backgrounds to reach their full potential and thrive as active members of the Tasmanian community. One in four young people in Australia are from a migrant or refugee background. MYT believes supporting these young people is vital to the development of an equitable, just, culturally diverse and inclusive society.

MYT runs numerous specialist programs that provide an opportunity for young men and women from migrant and refugee backgrounds to develop a strong sense of belonging and resilience during settlement and beyond.  MYT programs recognise that young people of this cohort face unique barriers during adolescents, but also bring with them immense strength and resilience to overcome the barriers they face.

MYT services and projects focus on the areas of sport and recreation, wellbeing, employment, and education. MYT also works with schools and other youth-focused organisations.
