Settlement & Community

Support for refugees and humanitarian entrants who arrived in Australia as  humanitarian entrants, family stream migrants with low English proficiency, and dependents of skilled migrants in rural and regional areas with low English proficiency. Services include support and advocacy, community development and a learner driver mentor program.

Case Management

Assist individuals, families and communities to achieve their settlement goals, including access to information and services, advocacy and support.

The Youth Program works with young people aged 15 to 25 providing case management, advocacy and support. We also work with schools and other youth organisations.

Top Gear Driver Mentor Program

The driver mentor program supports people to prepare for their P licence. A dedicated group of volunteer driver mentors take clients for practice driving lessons in a dual-controlled automatic car. This program also conducts workshops for people wanting to get a better understanding of Tasmanian road rules so they can apply for their Learner’s licence.

Community Development

Working with new and emerging community groups to increase participation in the Tasmanian community. Includes information sessions on such things as citizenship.

Migration Support Program

Registered Migration Agents (Colin Maier – MARN: 1687867)

The Migration Support Program offers non-commercial immigration assistance to eligible newly-arrived humanitarian migrants. This assistance may include migration advice, form support, and in some cases representation.

MRC Tas also provides commercial migration support to the general public, including newly arrived migrants.

The Code of Conduct for registered migration agents is set out in legislation to regulate the conduct of registered migration agents. It prescribes an agent’s obligations towards their clients. The Code of Conduct may be viewed here.
